Seals are widespread, however we can find majority of the species residing in the cold waters of the Arctic or Antarctic regions. They spend a most of their time in water and have found a mention in different cultures worldwide. They are also reared in captivity and can sometimes even be trained to do tasks and tricks. Seals have good sense of hearing and eyesight that are adapted for air as well as water. Certain species are specialized for diving into great depths. The blubber, fur coats and meat of seals have been traditionally used by the native people of Northern hemisphere.
