The panda means “white and black cat-foot”. It is also called giant panda or panda bear. It is a native of China and resides in a few mountain ranges of south central China. The panda is recognized easily by its distinctive, large black patches round its eyes, above the ears, and around its whole body. Though, the panda belongs to carnivorous family, its diet comprises of almost 99% bamboo. Pandas residing in forests occasionally eat wild tubers, other grasses, or even meat of rodents, carrion or birds. When in captivity, they eat honey, eggs, yams, fish, shrub leaves, bananas, or oranges accompanied by specially made food.
