3. Jawahar Lal Nehru and Lady Edwina Mountbatten
While one was a fair skinned English woman of a powerful descent, Nehru was the star of the rising India. Both had many similarities to spark off the love between them. Both of them were troubled with troublesome marriages, and not happy in their respective lives.
While Nehru exhumed power and dominance, Lady Mountbatten was the supreme authority in her own Role.
Slowly they fell for each other and continued to be in love, till her death almost 13 years later. Such was the intensity and sanctity of their relationship that lord Mountbatten himself decided to turn a blind eye to it.
This was a love affair that was witnessed by both; the nation of India, the royal seat of London, and the masses. But nobody could raise a finger!
While Nehru was a regular escapist at this question, the Lady in her finesse was ever bold about it. After a point in time, Pandit Nehru’s wife Kamala Nehru, also had to accept it as a part of her life.
Shaping up during the India’s Struggle for Independence, love found full bloom; Nehru and Edwina were inseparable.
