Anushka Sharma needs no introduction when it comes to B Town. She is an actress par apart from being a producer of the film NH10 as well. She was born on born 1 May 1988 in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India but was raised in Bangalore. As her father was in Army he kept on getting transfers but her upbringing was primarily in Bangalore only. She did her schooling from Army School there, and received a degree in arts from Mount Carmel College. She wanted to be a model or journalist and had no intention to be an actress. But after her graduation, she moved to Mumbai to explore her modeling career and thus got enrolled herself at the Elite Model Management and was groomed by the style consultant Prasad Bidapa. In 2007 she made her runway debut at the Lakme Fashion Week for designer Wendell Rodricks’s Les Vamps Show and was picked to be his final model at the Spring Summer 2007 Collection.
Since then she has done campaigns for the brands Silk & Shine, Whisper, Nathella Jewelry and Fiat Palio. Whilst modelling, she also joined an acting school and began auditioning for film roles. Her first role was of an extra in the comedy drama Lage Raho Munna Bhai thus having a modest start in Bollywood. She was got her big break when she was spotted by none other than Aditya chopra who casted her opposite Shahrukh Khan in Rabne Banadi Jodi. So she had to be a special girl and in no time the audience discovered that it was her vivacity and spontaneity that worked for her as her calling card. It was for no small a reason that Anushka Sharma was casted alongside Shahrukh Khan in a big project like Rabne Banadi Jodi.
Anushka Sharma was talented as well beautiful and became an overnight star with the film’s success. Anushka had signed a three film contract with the reputed YashRaj films. After Rabne Banadi Jodi she appeared in Badmaash Company opposite Shahid Kapoor and then in Band Baaja Barath opposite new comer Ranveer Singh. Band Baaja Barath became a hit and the two youngsters emerged as a hot pair and talented actors. Both the male and female lead was new faces and the small budget film surprised everyone with great performances and a gripping plot. Anushka who was till now a recognized face had produced a hit and given a splendid performance. Whereas the new face Ranvir Singh impressed all with his talent. The film became a landmark for their respective careers.
Anushka Sharma’s first film outside the Yash raj banner was Patiala House in which she was paired with Akshay Kumar. The film gave her secondary role to the male lead but won her critical acclaim. Ladies versus Ricky Behl was what followed and she was again in the lead with Ranveer Singh. Their pair once again sizzled on the screen. In 2012, Jab Tak Hain Jaan which was the much awaited film of the legendary director producer Yash Chopra released , in which she played the role of a discovery channel documentary film maker. Her performance was the highlight of the film and she dazzled equally well alongside the accomplished stars Shahrukh and Katrina. This was her second with Shahrukh and first with another actress. Although the film failed to meet people’s expectations, Anushka’s performance was critically acclaimed.
As far as her recent events in her life, she is alleged to date the Indian Cricket Captain Virat Kohli, they have been dating from few years and often make headlines for being spotted at different places. However, the couple has always denied accepting about their relationships. Her recent movies include Bombay Velvet, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Dil Dhadakne Do and Sultan. Her upcoming movies include Phillauri and Rahnumma. She is also doing a film opposite Shah Rukh Khan, which is directed by Imtiaz Ali. She has won a number of awards as well.
