10 Hollywood Movie Sequels That We All Want Desperately

Movies sequels are a big trend nowadays. We get lots of movie sequels every year. If you love watching movies, there must be some of the movies, whose sequel you desperately want. Sequel movies have perks and cons also, there are multiple good sequels throughout the year, but there have been some really bad one also. We are going to counting down the top 10 Movies Sequel we want desperately, but Hollywood won’t make it.

1. Inception

Now, this is most popular and twisted movie at the same time. This master piece from Christopher Nolan had a stellar cast with Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy. I am not going to say much, this movie certainly needed a sequel. Nolan has not scrapped the idea of the sequel till now, but it is pretty tough that we are going to get a sequel to this film.

2. Interstellar

Interstellar is the second film of Christopher Nolan to make it to our list of Top 10 Movies Sequel we want desperately, but Hollywood won’t make it. The movie was awesome. We saw a very drastic change in the space movie, which we have plenty of. The story was brilliant and so was the cast. Every actor played their part to perfection. As usual, the movie had sold ensemble cast in Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, Casey Affleck, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow and Michael Caine. The movie seems to be completed, but we still want to see a sequel to it. Nolan has been known for making awesome, gripping and brilliant movies. It is highly unlikely that we would get a sequel to this film.

3. Hancock

Will Smith plays the irresponsible and beaten down superhero very well in Hancock. The movie featured Will Smith, Charlize Theron, Jason Bateman and Eddie Marsan, which was just amazing. The movie had a very good story with lots of funny moments. For this movie also there were multiple talks about the sequel, but they have died down now. Hancock 2 would have been a great movie to watch, but it seems we are never going to get anyway.

4. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

Steven Spielberg is one of the most popular and acclaimed filmmakers of all time. The director has given us multiple amazing movies. One of the best movies in the director’s kitty is E.T. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is the story of a boy, who helps the alien to escape to his home planet. The movie proved to be both commercially and critically successful. Spielberg and Melissa Mathison even wrote a script for the sequel but decided not to pursue it. After so many years, we can safely assume that we are not going to get the sequel of E.T, but it would have been great.

5. Napoleon Dynamite

Napoleon Dynamite is an American comedy film featuring Jon Heder in the titular character. The movie earned more than 100 times of its budget upon its release. The movie deals with a teenage boy named Napoleon, who struggles to deal with his dysfunctional family along with helping his friend to win the class presidency. We still don’t have any confirmation about the sequel, but it seems near to impossible that we would get one.

6. Wanted (2008)

The 2008 action thriller titled Wanted was praised for its fast pacing story line by critics. The movie was box office hit by grossing $341 million worldwide. The film had a stellar cast in James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, and Angelina Jolie. There have been multiple reports about the sequel of the movie, but makers have said multiple times that they won’t make a sequel until they get everything right. Now, the talks about the sequel have just disappeared and it doesn’t seem that we are going to get one. It would have been very easy for the makers to make a sequel if we go by the ending of the movie.

7. Mrs. Doubtfire

Mrs. Doubtfire is a comedy drama film directed by Chris Columbus. The movie is known for Robin Williams’s most memorable performance. The actor plays a divorced actor, who dresses up as a female housekeeper in order to meet with his children. Robin William received the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. Columbus wanted to make a sequel of the movie, but actor Robin Williams’s unfortunate death in 2014 ended that plans. We still want the sequel with William, but it is impossible now.

8. Léon: The Professional

The movie has emerged as cult as of now. It is also the debut movie of popular actress Natalie Portman, where she played a 12-year old Mathilda. Mathilda ends up with a professional assassin Leon after his entire family is murdered brutally. The movie is awesome and also had a very good ending that could have been worked as a sequel. Director Luc Besson said that he never felt like making a sequel.

9. Forrest Gump

Let’s be honest, Forrest Gump is one of the best movies of all time, how cannot we want to see the sequel of the movie! Tom Hanks gave the performance of the life time in the movie. There was a follow-up book for the movie titled “Gump &Co.” it could have been easily made into a movie, which would serve as the sequel to original Forrest Gump. Tom Hanks turned the sequel down stating that it would have been very similar to the first one. Despite all these stuff, we still want to see Tom Hanks in a sequel.

10. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is a coming of the age comedy film directed by John Hughes. The movie has written John Hughes all over it. The director is known for his teen movies. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is the most amazing teen film ever made. The director had some plan for the sequel, but he never went ahead with that. Even screenwriter Rick Rapier wrote a script for a sequel, where 40-year old Ferris was going to take a day off. But all things never come to place. Now, we can safely assume that a sequel to the most iconic teen film is never going to happen.
