Surbhi Jyoti is a popular TV actress who hails from Jalandhar, Punjab. She was born here on 29 May 1988 and brought up at this place apart from others. She did her schooling from Shiv Jyoti Public School and then graduated from Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya. As a student of the said college she was very much active in cultural programs and activities and participated in debates and received honours as well in these. She then went on to do her Master of Arts degree in English Literature from Apeejay College of Fine Arts from Mumbai. During her college she got engaged in cultural activities, which made her to choose the career of glamour world and acting.
Talking about her career, Surbhi Jyoti started working in regional theatre and films like in Punjabi language films including Ik Kudi Punjab Di, Raula Pai Gaya and Munde Patiala Deas well as the Punjabi television series’ Akiyaan To Door Jayen Na and Kach Diyan Wanga. Soon she got the chance to enter the small screen with the TV show called Qubool Hai, which gave her recognition in the media. In fact she won the award for GR8! Performer of the Year—Female at the Indian Television Academy Awards and Best Début Actress at the Zee Gold Awards 2013. In the year 2014, Qubool Hai underwent a reboot, in which she played a double role of Sanam and Seher. Soon she was seen in global media magazines wherein she ranked 16th in an annual poll conducted by UK-based weekly newspaper Eastern Eye.
In the year 2015, she also hosted three seasons of the love drama Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya opposite Meiyang Chang. At Zee Gold Awards 2015, Karanvir Bohra and Jyoti were given the Best Onscreen Jodi Award. In 2015, Qubool Hai introduced a 25-year leap, post which she played Mahira, her fifth role in the show. The very same year, she ranked 17th in an annual poll conducted by UK-based weekly newspaper Eastern Eye. The coming year she hosted a travel based web show Desi Explorers Taiwan along with many other television actors. And the same year she entered in 4 Lions Films’ show Ishqbaaaz opposite Karanvir Bohra as Mallika Kabeer Choudhary, a business woman who is an architect by profession.
