THE SCANDALOUS LOVE AFFAIRS OF THE FAMOUS – WHEN PEOPLE FALL IN LOVE! Love itself is a complicated emotion and being in love is even more complicated! What happens when two people are in love and are not normal anonymous people, but faces recognized by masses? And what happens when these two people in love happen to be world celebrities and have millions following every move they make? Sometimes a secretgives away and the inside scoop is leaked. The answer is simple, scandals happen! Compiled below is a list that briefly describes the scandalous love affairs of the famous. 1. Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky So here was a handsome president Bill Clinton, and a pretty white house intern Monica Lewinsky, who vehemently denied any involvement with each other. But then “Monicagate” had been exposed and the whistle had been blown. While the wife decided to smartly ignore the speculations, the daughter avoided any social interaction for months after this. Monica did optimize the use of her name. From attending the various evening shows and also penning her side of the story, she later went on to London for studying after achieving her share of fame in the White house. Clinton seems to be doing well for himself. 2. Conrad and Gina General Franz Conrad – the Chief of the Austro-Hungarian Army and the highest official of the Empire, was hopelessly in love with a married Italian Aristocrat named Virginia. While half of the world was dying and he had lost his own son, he made it a point to write letters to his lady love at least once a day. Sometimes he even wrote six letters a day. The world was moving towards a disaster and while drafting his military strategies, he had this one face in his mind – his lady loveViginia! Why he was pursuing her is known clear, but this obsession was the fuelling stimulus of the preventive war against Italy and Serbia. Eventually, it resulted in the World War I, citing Austria’s role in the conflict. Each of his confidantes tried to talk him out of it, but he had the persistence of an adolescent for pursuing his love. This is all that mattered to him. Imagine the world coming to war with each other because a particular Gentleman was in love! 3. Jawahar Lal Nehru and Lady Edwina Mountbatten While one was a fair skinned English woman of a powerful descent, Nehru was the star of the rising India. Both had many similarities to spark off the love between them. Both of them were troubled with troublesome marriages, and not happy in their respective lives. While Nehru exhumed power and dominance, Lady Mountbatten was the supreme authority in her own Role. Slowly they fell for each other and continued to be in love, till her death almost 13 years later. Such was the intensity and sanctity of their relationship that lord Mountbatten himself decided to turn a blind eye to it. This was a love affair that was witnessed by both; the nation of India, the royal seat of London, and the masses. But nobody could raise a finger! While Nehru was a regular escapist at this question, the Lady in her finesse was ever bold about it. After a point in time, Pandit Nehru’s wife Kamala Nehru, also had to accept it as a part of her life. Shaping up during the India’s Struggle for Independence, love found full bloom; Nehru and Edwina were inseparable. 4. Oscar Wilde and Lord Alfred Douglas Oscar Wilde was married with two sons and in 1982, this strange affair started. This was followed by a series of lovers’ spats, including one in which severe criticism of Douglas’ translation of his work was accorded. This was an affair that was unacceptable by all standards of the society in those ages. Nobody could have accepted a same sex relationship. The father of Douglas, Marquess of Queensberry, somehow realized that there was something more than friendship between his son Douglas, and Wilde. This was the beginning of the end to this relationship. He practically made every effort of separating his beloved son from this relationship. When the noble discussions ledto nothing, he resorted to his mean and wicked ways. The Marquess of Queensberry openly retaliated against this,knowing that his son would be equally victimized in this fight, which he started by calling Wilde a “Sodomite”! It just got messier from there. Little is left to imagination!
