HOMELESS MAN LIVING IN A GRAVE OF A FAMILY FOR 15 YEARS
Astonishing discovery! We have seen homeless people living on footpaths, roads, slums or maybe on other people’s kindness. But this man changed all normal possibilities. He started living in a grave! Surprised? So am I. This 43 year old homeless man, Bratislav Stojanovic from Serbia never had a regular job and lost his home few years back. He was a former construction worker and lost his job there as well. He had to run into many debts to fill his stomach.
He was homeless and helpless. Being unable to find any better place to live, he resorted to living in a cemetery. Bratislav had been living in this cemetery at Nis since last fifteen years.
He had been sharing the ground with a family who died hundreds of years ago. Failing to get help from the alive, he sought for shelter from the dead and got it too.
He arranged for everything and made the place as cozy and comfortable as possible. He claims that he feel same as home in this place.
He says, “It is dry and it is warm. It isn’t a place, but it is more comfortable than the streets.” His words show how peacefully and happily he lived with the dead. Not everyone can do this.
He spent most of his time foraging for candles and cigarette butts around the cemetery ground. Everything seems so peaceful and relaxing, but things were not really that easy. He claims that he had had a terrible experience in the beginning. <1–nextpage–>
He says that things were tough because the burial ground went out of use and hardly anyone goes there. But he managed and adjusted his life there. Now, he is so comfortable here that he says he’s more afraid of the living than the dead. No one goes there so he had a lonely kind of life. He has got no job which means no money and food either. So he feeds on the food from the city’s Dumpster’s.
It is interesting that he has no complaints regarding his food. He says, “It is not as bad as you think. It’s amazing what people throw away.” Such people don’t exist in these days. He was a man worth salutation because he lived a happy life in spite of having no job, shelter and money.
It is amazing how he managed to live in that barren place under the ground. He keeps himself warm with the candles in winter nights.
He is happy that no one dares to bother him in whatever he does, not even the police. People may call him insane, but he is not. He is just a smart man who managed to live without a single penny.
Bratislav always takes a look before he comes out of his grave. He does this not because he is scared of bombs or police or anyone but because he does not want to scare anyone. I’m sure if someone suddenly pops out of the ground in front of you, you’ll definitely faint right at the moment.
So this was the story of this amazing person. Though he is not the only person to make a home in the cemetery, but he’s the one who did that better than anyone else.
