Astitva Story of Dr. Simran and Abhimanyu Saxena, a gynecologist enters in a complex situation when she marries a man 10 years younger than herself. Starring Varun Badola and Nikki Aneja Walia in lead roles, the show dealt with societal hypocrisy and marriage taboos. 2. Star Bestsellers Star Bestsellers, was a popular TV series which was telecasted on star plus in 1999–2000. Revolving around the themes of human emotions like love, friendship, jealousy, Star best-sellers dealt with highly mature human issues. Directors and writers including Anurag Kashyap, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Imtiaz Ali,Sriram Raghavan and Hansal Mehta were involved with the stories. 3. Rishtey Rishtey was aired on Zee TV. The show featured small stories of human relationships. Revolving around some of the most beautiful human relationships, this show had episodes and new stories which delved into intricacies of emotions. Each and every story was so touching that Rishtey in no time won many hearts. 4. Hasratein Hasratein (Desires) was one of the most popular show of mid 1990's. Based on the Marathi novel "Adhantari" by Late Shri Jaywant Dalvi, Hasratein dealt with the issue of extra marital affair. A TV critic had once commented, "It had made it a catalyst for the discussion of issues of marital discord, in spite of the embarrassment the serial generated for many. 5. Office Office Office Office is an Indian Hindi-language television sitcom that premiered on SAB TV on September 3, 2001. Starring ace veteran actor Pankaj Kapoor as Mussadilaal, the show dealt with rampant corruption and bribery seen in public offices. This show was way ahead of its time and the irony and humor in the show was depicted in a beautiful manner. 6. Justajoo Life of a happily married couple runs into trouble as the husband gets attracted to his sister-in-law. The story revolves around how Lalit is fed up with his uneducated and old fashioned wife Leela. He gets drawn towards his educated, career-oriented, modern sister-in-law,Neerja. Neerja even gets pregnant after getting into a relationship with her brother-in-law. She has a baby girl, but the pregnancy costs Neerja her life. The episodes later unfolds how Leela doesn't give up on her husband but raises his illegitimate child with utmost love and care. 7. Dekh Bhai Dekh Dekh Bhai Dekh was an Hindi sitcom which premiered on Doordarshan's metro channel, (DD2) on 6 May 1993. Developed, edited and created by Anand Mahendroo and produced by Jaya Bachchan, the show starred actors like Shekhar Suman, Navin Nischol, Farida Jalal, Bhavana Balsavar,Deven Bhojani, Sushma Seth, Vishal Singh and Nattasha Singh in lead roles. Revolving around three generations of the Diwan family, who live as an extended family in an ancestral bungalow in thesuburbs of Mumbai. The serial takes the family through relationship troubles, business problems, irksome parents and in-laws. The show was way ahead of its time due to a lot of reasons. One being, Sanju was dating, and so was Kirti. The show was telecasted when our parents stereotyped the boyfriend-girlfriend concept as 'western', but with this show, it broke all such notions. 8. Nukkad Nukkad was aired on the Indian television channel DD National in 1986–87. Starring Dilip Dhawan, Rama Vij, Pavan Malhotra, Sangeeta Naik, Avtar Gill in lead roles, Nukkad was based on everyday issues of lower income people and often revolved around one or two specific characters. While some episodes ended on hope and positive consolation, other had strikingly sad but realistic conclusion. The show became so popular that the producers decided to re-launch the Nukkad brand in 1993 in a new modern "avatar". It was titled Naya Nukkad and included the original cast with new characters. However, sadly Naya Nukkad did not match the popularity of the original Nukkad series. Characters like Khopdi, Kaderbhai and Ghanshu Bhikari became everyone's favorite.
