With her beautiful smile and sweet personality, Yami has made a place for herself in Bollywood. Starting her career with the offbeat film Vicky Donor in 2012, Yami worked in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Punjabi films. She is well known for her Fair n Lovely commercials on television.
Yami Gautam was born on 28 November 1988 in Himachal Pradesh. She was brought in a Punjabi family in Chandigarh. She studied in reputed school in Chandigarh aspiring to become an IAS when she grew up. Later before she enrolled for her graduation , Yami discovered her passion for modeling and acting and came to Mumbai. She auditioned for many roles which landed her few serial offers. She worked in the serial Chand Ke Paar Chalo and Yeh Pyaar Na Hoga Kam. She also worked in a reality show named Meethi Chhoori No 1.
Yami Gautam was picked up for South Indian films. She made her film debut with the Kannada film Ullasa Utsaha in 2009. She followed it up with more South films namely Nuvila and Gauravam and few Punjabi films. Later she made her Bollywood debut with the acclaimed movie Vicky Donor opposite new comer Ayushmann Khurrana. She won critical acclaim for her role in the film which was based on the issue of sperm donation.
Yami struggled to get potential roles in Hindi while her career in South flourished. She worked in the film Total Siyappa and later in Action Jackson both of which falling flat on box office. Yami played the female lead in the film Badlapur oppoiet Varun Dhawan but the role was too short. In 2016, she worked in Sanam Re and Junooniyat with Pulkit Samrat. She was involved with the actor was blamed by his wife for their marital separation.
In 2017, Yami worked opposite Hrithik Roshan in the film Kaabil playing the role of a blind protagonist. The role got her much acclaim and recognition.
