Before the Wikipedia came to be, in Texas it was illegal for anyone to own an Encyclopedia Britannica. You might think Texan authorities wanted no smarty-pants from their state. But the fact is that they did not want people to own the tomes because they carried within them the recipe to brew the perfect beer. What the Texan legal heads wanted was that instead of working hard to brew beer at home, people should head to the local pub in large numbers. Perhaps, the Texan authorities were hand-in-glove with local beer bars that made them come up with such an absurd law!
