Vashu Bhagnani bets on strong content yet again.
Mumbai: After Sarbjit, Vashu Bhagnani’s Puja Films and Entertainment Ltd has yet another surprise for cinema lovers. The production stalwart will be releasing the much awaited Irrfan Khan starrer social-thriller ‘Madaari’.
“With the talent of Irrfan Khan and the brilliance of Nishikant Kamat, picking up ‘Madaari’ was an easy decision for us,” said Vashu Bhagnani.
Vashu Bhagnani’s daughter Deepshikha Deshmukh who debuted as one of the producers for ‘Sarbjit’ is co-producer on ‘Madaari’. For Deepshikha, this will be her second outing in her new avatar and it already seems that she is defining her place in the industry. “Madaari is an extremely relevant movie which makes a strong social comment. ‘Madaari’ will show the mirror to all of us,” added Deepshikha Deshmukh.
2016 has marked a strategic shift for Puja Films within the industry. Vashu Bhagnani adds with a knowing smile, “We have been entertaining generations of cinema-goers for the past 25 years. There are much more surprises in store for our fans this year.” ‘Madaari’ is a social thriller based on the suburban Mumbai bridge collapse of 2012. Against the backdrop of the tragedy, the film attempts to explore the relationship between a father and a son while making a strong social statement.
Directed by Nishikant Kamat the movie also has Jimmy Shergill in a pivotal role.
‘Madaari’ releases on July 15, 2016.
