The excitement for all cinema goers is at peak as the theatres are scheduled to re-open after long six months under Unlock 5 from October 15. As the date is nearing movie makers are contesting over to secure release dates for their upcoming movies. Where many are competing to be first to raise the curtains with their ambitious projects, movies like; ’83 and ‘Sooryvanshi’ seem in no hurry instead are ready to wait for the things to get settle down first.
Due to this corona imposed lockdown, many movie makers were forced to opt for an OTT platform release, however, the makers of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone starrer sports drama ’83 and Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif’s high octane action rush ‘Sooryavanshi’ are in no rush to either release them on digital platform or rushing to release them in theatres anytime soon. Where the makers of ‘Sooryavanshi’ will make it to next year 2021, the sports drama based on the life of Indian cricket team Capitan Kapil dev who won the country World Cup in 1983 will release as slated, that is on Christmas. Both the movies are bank rolled by Reliance Entertainment.
Talking about the premiere dates of these two movies, the CEO of Reliance Entertainment, Shibasish Sarkar, was quoted saying, “We definitely don’t want to change the date of ’83 for Sooryavanshi. The sports drama is still slated to release on Christmas. We have to decide on the new date of Sooryavanshi with the director and actor, but the film should release between January and March.”
Meanwhile, many movies are reportedly awaiting their re-release on big screen including Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Pandya’s recent release ‘Khaali Peeli’ which was streaming on digital platform, Zee Plex. Furthermore, Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani starrer horror-comedy ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ which is scheduled to release on Disney+ Hotstar VIP on November 8, will also be released in theatres.
