It’s titled Star Trek Beyond and is being touted as the best in the Enterprise series, but even this mammoth sized Hollywood blockbuster is not taking its chances before it’s release in India on July 22nd.
As the release clashes with Rajnikant’s ‘Kabaali’, the promoters of Star Trek Beyond have released a poster of a giant spaceship hovering over Mumbai skies. With iconic Mumbai landmarks like the Gateway of India and The Taj Mahal Hotel in its foreground and the enterprise right above, the poster makes a solid impact.
Adding to the marketing ploys is what the promoters are calling a ‘spaceship activation’, where a huge remote controlled ‘spaceship’ emblazoned with the Star Trek Beyond enthralled audiences in a suburban Mumbai mall.
“Star Trek Beyond is rebooted and I believe Indian audiences are ready for the superior experience that it offers. We are just trying to ensure that cinema-goers get a slice of the movie experience right before the release,” adds Vashu Bhagnani who is releasing the film in India.
The veteran Bollywood producer and distributor knows that ‘Kabaali’ with its gimmick of superstar Rajnikant’s face on the plane of airline Air Asia created quite a stir. And, he wants to ensure that if his movie is releasing the same day it matches the impact.
Star Trek Beyond has opened to rave reviews internationally and releases in India on July 22nd
