Zaira Wasim is the sweet girl who plays younger Geeta Phogat in the Aamir Khan starrer film Dangal. The character is one of the leading one in this highly successful film and Zaira Wasim’s acting talent has been noticed by one and all.

Dangal, a film based on the life of Mahavir Phogat, has become a nationwide and also overseas success with the leading four girls of the film becoming highly popular for their exceptional acting.

Zaira Wasim was born in 23 October 2000 in Kashmir. Father Zahid Wasim is settled in Srinagar. Zaira Wasim also has a brother Zoraiz Wasim. Her mother is a Punjabi. So Zaira is a half Kashmiri and Half Punjabi is her lineage.

Zaira Wasim was discovered by the Dangal team in the Tata Sky advertisements. Before this the casting team had auditioned many teenage girls for the role. But it was Zaira Wasim who proved to be very impressive for the role standing out from others.  Zaira Wasim said in an interview that she was very shy and insecure facing the camera but she got herself training vigorously for the role which helped her gain self confidence. She was also required to build her physique suitable for the role.

Zaira is an intelligent student and is also very active in her school’s extra circular activities. She is talented singer and guitarist. Zaira was always fond of acting apart from her liking for reading and music.

After the release of Dangal, Zaira became highly popular as the young Geeta Phogat who grows up to become a wrestling champion. Young Zaira with her boyish looks has got really famous now.

Recently Aamir’s next project has been announced. It is titled Secret Superstars. It will be having Zaira Wasim, Meher Vij and Aamir in the lead roles. This is one of the much awaited projects in the coming year.
