Remarkable Indian Films Hardly Known To Indians

There is no doubt that most of the creativities are done in India. In India, the entertainment and film industry have produced some extremely marvelous movies and short movies that not only critically acclaimed in India but also, abroad. But this is not the first time that many of the films have won awards at International film festivals but never came into limelight. Here are some movies and short movies by Indian filmmaker which produced the spectacular movie which gains tremendous impact abroad than India. So let's make them known to Indian peoples. Watch out the lists…. 1.Parched (2015)It is a 2015 Indian drama film Radhika Apte starrer showcased at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. Which was written and directed by Leena Yadav This movie was produced by Ajay Devgan under his banner Ajay Devgn FFilms. The film explores the lives of four women in a village of north-western region of India, which still suffers from old, age-ridiculed traditions like forced child marriages and other social issues 3.Court(2014)This movie is directed by Sri Lankan director Vimukhti Jayasundara. Screened at the Directors' Fortnight of the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. The story of the movie is an architect and his girlfriend in search of his lost brother which is now said to be mad and living in the jungle. The film was essentially shot in Kolkatta. 3.Court(2014)Court is a Marathi drama film which makes you know all the legal system of Indian courtroom. Chaitanya Tamhane made his directorial debut. This movie has won Won 19 awards at National and International Film Festivals.4.Gattu(2012)This story is a little boy who is passionate about flying kites named Gattu. This 2012 film, written by K.D. Satyam and directed by Rajan Khosa received high critical acclaim by critics and film reviewers all over the world.5.Miss Lovely(2012)This tragic story is based on the tragic story of the Duggal brothers between 1986 and 1993. The younger siblings were played by the most versatile actor of this era Nazwazuddin Siddiqui, where he fall in love with a mysterious woman named Pinky this role is played by Niharika Singh. It premiered at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival and won the National Film Award . 6.Peddlers(2012)This story is based 20-year-old destitute boys who get trapped in the drug trade and a young cop, who tracks them. Peddlers is written and directed by Vasan Bala. Never got a release but was selected for International Critics’ Week. 7.OM DAR-B-DAR(1998) This movie is directed by Kamal Swaroop but the twist is that this movie was made in 1988 but was released on 17 January 2014. t follows the adventures of a school boy named Om along with his family and employs nonlinear narrative Premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival.8.Gandu(2010) Gandu is a 2010 black-and-white Indian film, in the Bengali language, directed by Qaushiq Mukherjee known for its stunning visuals and narrative. This movie is described as a ‘rap musical’ . The story of the movie is like a lonely and frustrated teenager whose state of mind is shown by intercuts of him rapping in Bengali. Gandu was an official selection at the 2011 Berlin International Film Festival . 9.Lucia.(2013) This is a story about Nikki, an usher in the theater who suffers from insomnia but after consuming a special pill, he gets entangled in a different kind of dream. is an Indian Kannada-language romantic sci-fi film. This film is written, co-edited and directed byPawan Kumar. Lucia has Won the Best Film Audience Choice award at the London Indian Film Festival. 10.The Japanese Wife(2010)The Japanese Wife is a 2010 Indian Japan joint venture romantic film. This movie is directed by Bengali filmmaker Aparna Sen. The Japanese Wife is an epistolary romantic tale of a young Bengali village school teacher. This role is played by Rahul Bose who marries his Japanse pen friend over letters and remaining true and loyal to her throughout his life, while actually never meeting her. Purchased for distribution in North America and released through Netflix, Amazon, and iTunes. 11.Sonchidi(2011)Sonchidi — also called The Golden Bird — is a 2011 Indian science fiction film directed by Amit Dutta. Screened at the 68th Venice International Film Festival. This story is about two travelers who were in search of flying craft and they believe that they can escape from the cycle of births. 12. Killa (2015)Killa — a 2015 Indian Marathi drama film directed by Avinash Arun. The story of the film is really touching because it revolves around an 11-year-old child who has a difficult time coping with the death of his father The film won the Best Feature Film in Marathi at the 62nd National Film Awards. 13. Kharij (1982) Kharji is a Bengali film made by Mrinal Sen in 1982 Won the Jury prize at the 1983 Cannes Film Festival. It tells the story of a middle-class family whose child servant is found dead, and their efforts to pacify his grieving father.The idea of the movie is taken from the novel by Ramapada Chowdhury. 14. Ghatashraddha (1977) Ghatashraddha is a 1977 Indian Kannada language film directed by Girish Kasaravalli starring Meena Kuttappa, Narayan Bhat and Ajith Kumar in lead roles. This is a story of a young Brahmin Vedic school student from an aristocratic family who fails at concealing his friend’s pregnancy who is a widow. Won three awards at the 25th National Film Awards in 1977. 15. Inshallah, Football (2010)This is a 2010 documentary film by Ashvin Kumar — an Oscar-nominated filmmaker. The story of this movie is about an aspiring footballer who was denied the right to travel abroad on the pretext that father was a militant in the 1990s. This movie had gone through many controversies and that it was decided that without censor certificate it cannot be shown in India. But this movie was picked for a National award after being banned earlier. 16. Unfreedom (2014)Unfreedom is a 2014 Indian drama film by Raj Amit Kumar,[2] which was released in North America on 29 May 2015. The story revolves around a Muslim fundamentalist in New York who kidnaps a liberal Muslim scholar with an intent to kill and a closeted lesbian in New Delhi who kidnaps her bisexual lover with the intent to love. Set in two different cities, New York and New Delhi,[9] the film approaches sexuality and violence head on with a focus on the Muslim and LGBT identities . This movie was first banned but then it got released in America. 17. Party (1984)Party is a 1984 Hindi film directed by Govind Nihalani.This film is a sequel to the 1983 film Ardh Satya. It was the official Indian entry to the 32nd International Film Festival of India, New Delhi, and also took part in the Tokyo Film Festival 1985 and Asia Pacific Film Festival 1985 .The film is a deeply intelligent satire aimed at the urban elite Especially getting ready, looking forward to going, or cribbing about having to go — and a harrowing finale. 18. Aakhri Khat (1966)This is probably the oldest movie on the list. Aakhri Khat is a 1966 Bollywood film written and directed by Chetan Anand. AAKHRI Khat was Rajesh Khanna’s debut film and the start of a legendary actor. The film was selected as the Indian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 40th Academy Awards in 1967 but was not accepted as a nominee. The story of the movie goes like a little child gets separated from his mother when she dies and then later reunites with his mother in form of statue.19. Labour of Love (2014) What happens to love when Sensex starts falling and job security starts waning. Debutant Aditya Vikram Sengupta paints a meditative picture of romance in the times of recession. This National Award winning film is set amidst the problematic reality of unemployment in Kolkata laying focus on a young couple who work in different shifts. When she works, he sleeps and vice versa. Premiered at the 71st Venice International Film Festival.20.Cities Of Sleep (2015)One of the more memorable Indian films to be screened at the Mumbai Film Festival was Shaunak Sen’s documentary Cities of Sleep. This is a 2015 documentary on sleep communes and sleep industry in India. Delhi is one of the few cities in the country to have night shelters for the homeless. It has been shown in the movie that two beggars who have spent last seven years sleeping in odd places in Delhi, from subways and under flyovers to car garages, vacant zoo cages, and deserted pipeline. Showcased at the Taiwan International Documentary Festival.21.Jai Bhim Comrade (2011)This documentary elicits the various aspects of the lives and politics of Dalit people in Mumbai. Jai Bhim Comrade is a 2011 Indian documentary film directed by Anand Patwardhan. The making of the film began with the description of police violence in the 1997 Ramabai killings and It goes on to explore various aspects of the lives and politics of Dalit people in Mumbai. The 14th year later was released in 2011 after the conclusion of the court trials that followed the Ramabai incident. This movie has Won awards at various National and International Film Festivals.
