Taare Zameen Par is a beautifully conceptualized film starring Aamir Khan and Darsheel Safary and directed and produced by Khan himself. The film revolved around the life and journey of an eight-year-old dyslexic child, portrayed by Darsheel. It showcased how every child is special despite being not good in academics.

Most of the tracks from the film were written by Prasoon Joshi, but the song, Maa, was literally soul-wrenching. It spoke about the relationship between a mother and a son and the way it was penned down, it could connect with millions, emotionally and mentally as well. Joshi even received the National Film Award For Best Lyrics for the song.
