Plabita Borthakur had previously played small roles in films and TV shows before she bagged one of the lead roles in the film Lipstick Under My Burkha. The movie is directed by Alankrita Shrivastava and is presently controversial for it’s bold and feministic content. However the film has been released internationally and is getting rave reviews. Plabita is the youngest character in the film and is being appreciated highly for her work.
Plabita Borthakur is basically from Assam. Her family settled down in Mumbai when she was young. Since her childhood, she was inclined towards arts and music a lot since her parents were exponents in the same field. She is the youngest among three girls. Her elder sisters are also working in the acting industry. Plabita is also a very good singer having performed at various concerts and live sessions. She combined with her friend and formed a music group called Manu & Chow. Manu being her nick name.
Plabita joined modeling industry while pursuing her music career. Thanks to her pretty face and sweet look, she was chosen for many ad campaigns. She modeled for many ad films for products like Paytm and Tata Sky. She has worked in small roles in TV serials. Then she was chosen to play the role of Anushka Sharma’s sister in the film PK.
