As one of the leading ladies of the entertainment industry, Kareena Kapoor makes a statement with everything she does. The movies she chooses or the brands she endorses, she makes news with every move. She is one of the few actresses in Bollywood who can carry a film by her name alone. She has been a part of many high grossing Bollywood films. Kareena belongs to the Kapoor family which has it’s four generations into acting business. Her father is yesteryear actor Randhir Kapoor, mother Babita was also an actress while her elder sister Karisma Kapoor was also a leading commercial actress in Bollywood at the time she made her debut.
Kareena Kapoor was born on 21 September 1980 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She studied in Jamabai Narsee School in Mumbai and later went to Welham Girl’s school in Dehradun. She was aspiring to make a career in law when from a prestigious university in UK but she dropped out to pursue a career in Bollywood like her sister. She made her acting debut opposite debutant Abhishek Bachchan in the movie Refugee in 2000. She experienced a dull face in her career in her initial years doing only commercial movies like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Khushi, 36 China Town among others. During this period she was in a relationship with actor Shahid Kapoor. Her good films in this phase were Dev and Chameli. Her career phase took a turn with the movie Jab We Met with which she got much popularity. It was also during the same time she separated from Shahid Kapoor.
Kareena’s career shoot up after Jab We Met and she was reckoned amongst the most successful actresses of her time. Her work in the movie Omkara as Shakespearean heroine Desdemona got her many awards and much recognition. During this time, she entered a relationship with future husband Saif Ali Khan.
After many commercially successful films, Kareena tied the nuptial knot with Saif Ali Khan in October 2011. After marriage she became choosy about her roles. The couple was blessed with a son named Taimur Ali Khan in 2016.
