Janhvi Kapoor talks about sexism in Bollywood and her privileged background
The list of celebrities talking over the entire nepotism, insider-outsider difference & favouritism in Bollywood is never ending. Many have up-front spoken about the benefit that star kids possess over those who aren’t from the entertainment background. Joining the debate, Bollywood diva Janhvi Kapoor recently spoke about it in an interview and she couldn’t agree to it more.

Janhvi was quoted saying, “I haven’t had to deal with the kind of things that most women have to deal with. Because I do come from a slightly more privileged background and so I have been extremely lucky in the way that I have been treated and the opportunities that I have gotten.”
Janhvi is soon going to be seen playing the role of an air force officer Gunjan Saxena in her Netflix movie. When asked about how comparable is her life with that of Gunjan Saxena, she said, “I don’t think I have anything to complain about, but hearing her story, being in a simulated environment, when knowing that she’s been in probably these real situations, I don’t know if I can say maybe sympathize, but it made me come close to watch it may have been like, and it, of course, broadened my horizon and perspective of what women might be going through.”
Janhvi has given an incredible performance in her debut film Dhadak opposite Ishaan Khattar. She is often seen displaying her high sense of style with every public appearance that she makes. Sridevi’s daughter shall also be seen in the sequel of Dostana and Roohi Afzana in the upcoming times.

Speaking about sexism in the industry, Janhvi said that the way filmmakers conduct narrations to the male actors is much more in depth and precise as compared to the female actors. She used to think it was because of the complex and important roles that were given to the men. However she soon realised that wasn’t the reason.
“But then I realised that maybe it’s just some sort of subliminal conditioning that is making them do that.” said Janhvi.
