I’m open to doing reality shows: Manisha Kelkar
Acting is a tough job, either actor knows or people who see them working hard understand this. Team Filmymantra went to interview the very talented and beautiful Manisha Kelkar on the sets of a Marathi movie she’s doing. Manisha has worked in Hindi and Marathi cinema and also done television. Here’s what the ever smiling and jovial actress has to say.
Currently you’re working in a Marathi movie, how’s the experience?
I always enjoy acting and when you enjoy your work, experience has to be good. I’ve done many Marathi movies and I’m very thankful to my fans for appreciating all the effort I put in doing movies.
Are you interested in doing only regional cinema?
Not at all. I haven’t restricted myself doing just Marathi movies. I’ve already done two Hindi movies and my third Hindi movie is on the verge of completion. I won’t shy away from the fact that regional movies are doing great these days and they have gained popularity among fans, so if an offer is good, I would accept movies in other languages as well.
You just mentioned your third Hindi movie, are you talking about ‘Facebooked’?
Yes, earlier it was titled Facebooked, but the name has been changed to ‘Friend Request’. Concept of the movie is wonderful and I’m sure people will love this movie. I’m also happy with the fact that ‘Friend Request’ will be released in two languages, Hindi and Telugu.
This is the last day of your shoot for this Marathi movie, what’s next?
I’m in talks with a couple of production houses; you will soon get the news of me doing some more movies (smiles). Before you ask me further questions on this, let me tell you it would be too early to reveal details about my future projects as things are still in the talking stage (laughs).
Are you happy with your career graph?
There’s no reason to be not happy. I’m definitely happy with the amount of work I’ve done. As an actor, there’s no level of happiness or satisfaction. Once you start facing the camera, you are never tired of working. I wish to do more and more work and will never think it’s enough.
How comfortable would you be doing Hindi shows on Television?
I must say very comfortable. If a good reality show offer comes my way, I’ll accept it as I’m open to doing reality shows. But if you ask me about daily soaps, I would say no, as soaps require actors to be associated with them for months and years. I don’t see myself doing daily soaps, but surely a big yes for reality shows.
Last question, are you dating someone?
I’m single; you people should find me a good guy (laughs). It’s difficult to find a nice guy these days. My work keeps me busy, let’s see how things will fall into place.
