Films surrounded by controversies get easy attention. But many would say that the controversial release of Shahrukh Khan and Mahira Khan’s film Raees was uncalled for. Indeed, the memory of Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hain Mushkil is still fresh in our minds when Mumbai theatres boiled with threats of violence post MNS’s decision to obstruct the film’s release. Well there are signs that Raees will not meet the same fate but will have a much more peaceful release. Yet, the bad part is we won’t get to see Mahira Khan promoting the film in India.

As the film producer’s guild in Mumbai took the decision to curb all ties with Pakistani artists working in Bollywood, actors like Ali Zafar and Fawad Khan had to pack their bags and head back home. Now as the much awaited film Raees is up for release on 25 January, there is curiosity whether the release will be marred by political controversy or will the film have a peaceful release. Small controversies like Mahira Khan posting a picture of hers with Raees T shirt with a sad expression and the videos of her interview speaking disrespectfully about India went viral also surfaced recently. Now the latest is that the 34 year old actress has spoken her heart out in an interview.

Mahira khan said she still can’t believe that she was cast in this big project film opposite King Khan. She is presently promoting the film in Dubai individually while Shahrukh and Nawazuddin Siddiqui will also reach there to begin full- fledged promotions. Mahira said,

“Yes I’m grateful, but it’s something I have worked for! Why shouldn’t I feel it? Just because I’m an actor? Just because it’s a film? Just because it seems like fluff? I also want to promote the film. I also want to be in an interview with Shahrukh Khan talking about it. Why not? Why is it I get told that that’s asking for too much? It isn’t! It is my right. This was also my film.”

Raees will clash at the box office with Hrithik Roshan starrer Kaabil.
