If a Religion Worships Cows, You Can’t Slaughter Them: Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut has become one of the trending topic since last week after talking about liberal values and mob lynchings at a public event. Her comments over liberal values and mob lynching has divided social media in to two. While some embraced her views on saving cows whereas others slammed the actress for her views over liberal values. To clear her stance on cow lynching, Kangana told Mid-Day that she never normalized lynchings.

“We didn’t normalize lynching at any point. If a certain religion worships cows, you can’t slaughter cows. I am a vegan and I can’t see raw meat. I can’t be shamed for my choices. If it’s a sentimental thing, why instigate people?” she told the daily.
“I am the most liberal person I know, but self-proclaimed liberals can’t rattle me by trying to seek attention. Their agenda is to go against the Government, protest against the national anthem, but how are they standing up for the country? Our situation needs to be rectified by a strong set of ideals that can bring us out of the pit,” she continued.
“Spirituality is the need of the hour. The idea was to have a discussion on relevant issues. People are malnourished in this country, they have no access to education; their basic needs are not met. I think the so-called liberals are indulgent with an entitled worldview” she told the daily.
During the last week event, Kangana Ranaut talked at length about lynching, liberal section of Indian society, nationalism and illegal immigration. The actress had said, “You feel very protective of who you are and what your values are, and you want to save all animals and you definitely want to save the cows because the prejudice is really agonising. But (then) lynching for cows takes place and you look like an idiot. You feel conflicted. You want to save the animals but when the lynching happens, you feel heartbroken at what’s going on. You feel this is wrong.”
