6 Upcoming Sports Biopics that Are A Must Watch For Everyone.

There are so many sports stars in the country who have risen above their problems and achieved something not just for themselves but for the nation. While some of them are in the public eye, there are many whose story remains untold.

It is great to see Bollywood take an initiative and project the lives of such great personalities on-screen. While such movies give out the real story and struggles behind the success of these sports persons, they also spread a message that goes out to each individual who wants to make a name in the field of sports.

If the filmmakers are relaying a sportsperson’s story, through their films, it should be a matter of pride for us! A lot of biopics have been made and have been critically acclaimed over the years. We’ve obviously seen the Shah Rukh Khan Starrer ‘Chak De India’, which was based on a true story, inspired by the life of Mir Ranjan Negi, the then coach of the Indian Women’s Hockey team.

  1. Abhinav Bindra

 Abhinav Bindra is an Indian businessman and retired professional shooter who won a gold medal in the Olympics has his very own biopic coming out and Kapoor Junior, i.e. Harshvardhan Kapoor will be portraying his role, defining his journey through the Olympics. Harshvardhan is getting into full form to play Abhinav.

The film is also based around Abhinav’s own book titled ‘A Shot At History: My Obsessive Journey To Olympic Gold’.

 

  1. Saina Nehwal

 Saina Nehwal is an Indian professional badminton singles player. Saina will have her own biopic soon which will be directed by Amol Gupte. The movie will feature Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role and, of course, trace Saina’s journey through her victory.

Right now Shraddha is prepping for the role and getting into practice mode, to play the Badminton star. Let’s see if Shraddha can do justice to this role!

  1. Kapil Dev

Kapil Dev Nikhanj better known as Kapil Dev, is a former Indian cricketer. Ranveer Singh is all set to bring his story on screen with 83 and refresh the memories of the biggest cricket victory for India.

It will recreate the most memorable moment of the Indian cricket history that gave the country its first world cup trophy when India won against West Indies.

  1. Mithali Raj

Mithali Raj is an Indian cricketer and the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team. Viacom18 Motion Pictures recently announced the biopic of the Captain of Indian Women’s Cricket team Mithali Raj.

It was under her captaincy that India went to the finals in the World Cup and she is also the first woman to score 6000 ODI runs in one-day international cricket.

  1. Dhyan Chand

Pooja Shetty’s production house recently approached Dhyan Chand’s son Ashok for permission to make a biopic on his father and he, of course, had no issues with that but requested them to keep the film as authentic as possible.

 

Rumours have it, that Varun Dhawan may play the legend.

 

  1. P.V. Sindhu

Sonu Sood is gearing up to produce this epic biopic on ace badminton player P.V. Sindhu and he believes it’s challenging to produce a biopic on a 22-year-old! Umm, okay Mr. Sood, maybe focus on her badminton skills then?

The movie will focus on Sindhu and her struggle to achieve her dream. The movie is also rumoured to star Deepika Padukone taking Sindhu’s role head on! We can’t wait for this one!
