In the morning, following the death of Shashi Kapoor, the veteran actor has been incinerated with the state honouring at SantaCruz crematorium, with a three-gun salute by the Mumbai police. Though it has been a rain-drenched Tuesday with the city hit by Cyclone Ockhi, Shashi Kapoor’s funeral has joined the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Lara Dutta, Naseeruddin Shah, Sanjay Dutt, and Ratna Pathak Shah.
Shashi Kapoor died at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Ambani Hospital last Monday. He was 79 years old. The family of the actor were the first ones to arrive at the prayer meet. Rekha who has worked opposite to Shashi Kapoor in many films like Baseraa, Do Musafir, Kali Ghata, and Kalyug was pictured entering the venue. Hema Malini, the legendary star who has also co-starred with Shashi Kapoor walked the venue after some time. Rani Mukherji has also made her appearance at the prayer meet. Soha Ali Khan has walked with her husband Kunal Khemu.
Randhir Kapoor has presided over the rituals while the wife of Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor also walked in. Both Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor are Shashi Kapoor’s nephews. Randhir Kapoor’s daughter Karishma Kapoor has also arrived with her mother Babita. Raj Kapoor’s wife Krishna Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor’s wife Neila Devi also escorted to the venue.
Aamir Khan’s wife Karan Rao also arrived. Adaar Jain and Armaan – sons of Raj Kapoor’s daughter Reema Jain were also present at the venue. Rakesh Roshan and Jeetendra also arrived at the venue together. Shashi Kapoor’s children, Kunal, Sanjana, and Karan Kapoor were pictured too welcoming all the guests!
