We have all heard of Radio Jockeys being the source of entertainment on several radio channels. They run shows and keep the audience engaged and hooked on to their frequency. To very well understand the role of an RJ, consider Vidya Balan’s character from Tumhari Sulu!
While they do entertain us on radio talk shows, several Radio Jockeys also made a career in acting in Bollywood and have gained enormous fan following thereafter. Here’s presenting a few famous RJ turned actors:
#1. Nikhil Chinapa
The Radio Jockey who has a scintillating personality, starred in his debut Bollywood film Shatiaan as inspector Sandeep. After that there was no looking back for Nikhil.
Nikhil started his career as an RJ and is now in talks over his collaboration with MTV for transforming the face of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) in India.
#2. Manish Paul
The energetic host of the Radio show Kasakai Mumbai on the Mumbai Radio City, Manish has come a long way into television industry.
He did appear in movies like Mickey Virus and Tees Maar Khan, however, he is more popular as an anchor in reality shows on television.
#3. Smriti Kalra
The actress who starred has Surveen in the project Surveen Guggal – Topper Of the Year also started off as a Radio Jockey.
Smriti has also worked as a model and is one of the most sought after actresses.
#4. Ayushmann Khurrana
Ayushmann is a very phenomenal actor of Bollywood. His latest movie Andhadun also won a national award.
However, before doing Vicky Donor, Ayushmann also worked for television and a Radio Jockey too. The famous radio show ‘Maan Na Maan Main Tera Ayushmann’ for Big FM, Delhi was hosted by him.
#5. Neil Bhoopalam
The famous RJ of Radio Mirchi who ran successfull shows like ‘College Se Canteen Tak’, ‘The Sunday Morning Show’, and ‘Baat Ban Jaye’ is now a celebrated actor.
Neil has worked in Bollywood films like Shaitaan, No One Killed Jessica, and NH 10.
