Sayani Gupta is a talented young actress in Bollywood. She played the character of Khanum , an activist in Margarita with a Straw. She got wide acclaim for this path breaking film. She was previously a model and had excelled in performing arts before she stepped into acting in films. She has also worked in Call Waiting, a film by Anubhuti Kashyap.
Sayani was inclined towards theatre and performing arts since her childhood. She was born and brought up in Kolkata. Her father is a musician in All India Radio and her mother is a government employee. From her parents she received lots of support to pursue a career in theatre. Though she excelled in acting , Sayani experienced a dull time in her career when she struggled to find apt work. She worked in the field of Real Estate about four years which kept her away from her passion that is arts. But Sayani could not stay away from her passion for long. She sought opportunities for herself in Bollywood and ended up doing films like Margarita with a Straw which gave her the coveted recognition.
Sayani’s Bollywood career took shape in 2012 when she bagged the opportunity to do Second Marriage. Com in which she played the lead. In 2014, she played a significant role in off beat film Parched. Later she got in the notice of filmmakers with Margarita with a Straw which brought her recognition. This was followed by her impactful performances in Shuruat Ka Interval and Baar Baar Dekho. In the film Fan starring Shahrukh Khan, Sayani played the role of Sunaina, the secretary of Aryan Khanna.
Sayani Gupta is presently working in the Anurag Basu film Jagga Jasoos. The film, presently in it’s post production stage, is already in news since the lead star pair Katrina and Ranbir parted ways in real life before completion of the film.
