7 TV Serials Inspired By Novels

TV shows are something that are gaining popularity these days. Rather than movies, people actually love watching TV shows more. Critics say that this is the ‘Golden age of television.’ Sometimes people don’t enjoy reading that much as much as they enjoying watching it on Television. And hence, TV shows that are based on books are highly rated. Below are some TV serials that are actually based on novels. In the similar way, the Ekta Kapoor TV serial ‘Kahiin Toh Hoga’ which aired on Star Plus during September 2003 to February 2007 was also a story inspired by the novel Pride and Prejudice. The lead actress Amna Sharif played Kashish. She was shown a proud daughter who was very close to her father. They were four sisters. Rajeev Khandelwal was also a part of the serial. It was basically a romantic drama. The story of Kashish’s younger sister seems to be similar to the characters Mr. Wickham and Lydia from ‘Pride and Prejudice.’ 2) Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi Inspired by Wuthering Heights The serial which was aired on Colors, was quite a popular daily soap. It was truly based on the novel ‘Wuthering Heights’ which is a gothic classic, written by Emily Bronte and her only novel. The serial shows how Ishani’s family removes Ranveer from her life, just like ‘Heathcliff’. Ishani’s character reflects Catherine. Later, Ranveer returns in her life, but this time he is shown as a rich businessman and here is when the story seems different from the novel. 3) Kumkum Bhagya Inspired by Sense and Sensibility The serial Kumkum Bhagya is now airing on Zee TV and is an inspiration from the novel Sense and Sensibility. The serial is an Indian version of the novel. Elinor Dashwood is played by Pragya. The hero of the show is a supermodel as well as a Rockstar. Marianne Dashwood also has an important role in the story and is played by Bulbul. 4) Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne Inspired By The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty by James Thurber was published in 1939. The popular show Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne was not totally but partially based on the novel. It stared a veteran actor Raghubir Yadav. The story was again adapted in the movie of 2013, which had the same name and had Ben Stiller as an actor. 5) Aatish Inspired By Master Of The Game Smriti Irani did this show even before she did ‘Kyu Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ i.e in the year 1999, aired on Star Plus. It was based on the best-selling novel Master Of The Game by Sidney Sheldon. The show didn’t go on for a longer time though. 6) Dilli Wali Thakur Gurls Inspired By Those Pricey Thakur Girls Those Pricey Thakur girls was written by Anuja Chauhan and was one of the bestsellers. Though the show was a disappointment. 7) Kismat Inspired By Kane And Abel Kismat was premiered on 14 February 2011. The story was about two Indian men who share the same birthdays i.e August 15, 1947. They had nothing in common apart from that.
