The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty by James Thurber was published in 1939. The popular show Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne was not totally but partially based on the novel. It stared a veteran actor Raghubir Yadav. The story was again adapted in the movie of 2013, which had the same name and had Ben Stiller as an actor.

Smriti Irani did this show even before she did ‘Kyu Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ i.e in the year 1999, aired on Star Plus. It was based on the best-selling novel Master Of The Game by Sidney Sheldon. The show didn’t go on for a longer time though.
