The year 2016 is the year of biopics. We have already seen movies like ‘Azhar’, ‘Sarbjit’ and ‘Neerja’ and in coming months we will get to see ‘ Dangal'(Mahavir Phogat) and ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’. And now, according to a leading entertainment web portal, a biopic on Olympian shooter Abhinav Bindra is all set to start rolling soon. However, the lead actor of the movie is yet to be finalised.
The movie will be directed by director, Kannan Iyer who directed the eerie ‘Ek Thi Daayan’ and it is said that the makers are considering Ranbir Kapoor or Varun Dhawan to star in the film.
A source said, “The cast is in place except the central character. For Abhinav Bindra’s role, Iyer has zeroed-in on two actors Ranbir Kapoor and Varun Dhawan who are the right build age and spirit to portray Bindra from age 17 to his present age (33).”
It is said that both the actors are keen on playing the role. But the final decision will depend on the availability of dates with either actor.
The source said, “Both are busy star-actors. And this film requires a long stretch of uninterrupted dates from the actor. Right now the frontrunner is Ranbir.
However, his dates are committed to another biopic, the Sanjay Dutt one to be directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Both Ranbir and Varun stand an equally good chance of playing Bindra.”
Now let’s see whose shot we will get to see on the big screen – Ranbir Kapoor or Varun Dhawan!
