4. Madhubala

Born as Mumtaz Jahan Begum Dehlavi, Madhubala was a part of many successful Bollywood flicks in 1950s and early 1960s. Admired for her timeless beauty, Madhubala has been regarded as the most talented movie stars of her era.

She was specially appreciated for her performance in movies like “Mahal”, “Amar”, “Chalti ka Naam Gaadi” and “Jalwa”. Incidentally, her last movie was released in 1971, 2 years after her death.

Madhubala was from a rich Pushto origin family but had to face many hardships in her early life. Her entry into the film world was more of a compulsion and she got her first role as a child artist at the age of 9.

Her career in Bollywood spanned from 1942 until 1960. Madhubala died young at 36 in 1969 as she suffered from many medical complications and had a bad love life too, which caused a lot of depression to her.

“Mughal-e-Azam” has been regarded as one of her most contemporary appearances and Madhubala has been appreciated in Hollywood too for her acting abilities.
