Rani Mukherji, like her cousin Kajol, went unnoticed during the initial years of her Bollywood career. Her first appearance was in a Bengali film “Biyer Phool” (1996) followed by her non de-script appearance in “Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat”. Success to Rani came with “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” in 1998 and she never looked back.
Rani has been a part of many commercial successes in Bollywood including “Saathiya”, “Hum Tum”, “Bunti aur Babli” and “Kabhi Alvida na Kehna”. She is also known for her women oriented roles with “Mardani” being her latest appearance.
She has associated herself actively in several humanitarian issues and promotes rights of women and children. She is married to the film producer Aditya Chopra.
Performance of Rani has been appreciated a lot and she has won Filmfare Awards for Best Supporting Actress for her roles in “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”, “Yuva” and “No One Killed Jessica”.
