Padmaavat Suffered This Much Loss Due To The Protests And No Screening In Some States

Amid all the chaos and protests, Padmaavat released worldwide on 25th January. The movie is doing phenomenal business at the box office all around the world. The movie has received huge appreciation from the audience as well as critics. Everyone is praising the performance of the lead actors, especially Ranveer Singh. Ranveer has played the role of ruthless and womanizer Allauddin Khilji to absolute perfection.

Padmaavat earned Rs. 4.25 Crore in paid previews on Wednesday, earned Rs. 17.75 Crore on Thursday, Rs. 31 Crore on Friday, Rs. 27 Crore on Saturday, Rs. 29.75 Crore on Sunday, and Rs. 14.25 Crore on Monday. The movie has earned a whopping sum of Rs. 124 Crore in first five days.

Padmaavat could have earned much more if it had released all over the country smoothly. It would not be wrong to say the intensive protests have caused the movie a lot of money. The movie has not been screened in four states Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and some parts of Goa.

According to the trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat suffered a huge loss of Rs. 35 to 37 Crore due to disturbances, protests and various other reasons.

Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and wrote, “Protests… Disturbances… No screening in few states… Yet, #Padmaavat does EXCELLENT biz in its extended weekend… The film lost out on substantial biz [approx ₹ 35 cr / ₹ 37 cr], but the SUPERB trending in other circuits helped put up a MAJESTIC total…”

It is definitely a huge loss for the makers. But the movie is going to earn big in the long run, all thanks to the massive love from the audience.

While talking about the film, Ranveer Singh told Bollywood Life,

“I am on top of the world, over the moon. I am very happy for the entire team. This is not a normal movie that gets made every other day. It took a lot more time and effort from every department. Every member had put their best foot forward. I am extremely happy and relieved to see that these efforts are paying off. The role of Khilji took a lot out of me mentally, physically and emotionally. To see the kind of love I am getting makes very happy. I am thrilled and relieved. I took a leap of faith to play this character and the gamble has paid off.”
