Star India To SHUT DOWN Channel V: Twitter Reminisce Memories From the 90s
if you are the 90s kid like me, you must be aware of the music channels like MTV and Channel V. Both of the channels used to be the favorite of every young kid that time. Now, several new music channels have popped up and have taken over the music sections. MTV has struck a chord with the youngsters with some new shows, but the same can’t be said for Channel V.
Channel V gave us some of the most loved TV personalities like Lola Kutty, Purab Kohli, and Anusha Dandekar. The channel was the best place for VJs and emerging singers. Various shows like Hit Machine, Dare to Dare, Get Gorgeous and The Buddy Project entertained the viewers.
Back in 2015, Channel V stopped airing music and started focusing on its original contestant and fiction shows, which was targeted towards the youth of the country. However, it didn’t do well and the channel started airing music once again in 2016. Now, there is buzz floating around the entertainment industry that Star India is looking to shut down the channel. Low TRPs are the main reason behind this drastic decision of Star India. If that was not enough, it is going to be replaced by Kannada sports channel. This is certainly a sad news for the 90s kids. Many Twitter users are pretty sad with the news, as another phase of their childhood memories vanishes into thin air.
After hearing the news, Twitter poured in old memories of the channel. Check out some of the most popular Twitter posts reminiscing old memories from the 90s.
Wrote my first ever TV show for Channel V, and was lucky to work with superstars @juhipande, Manish Anand, @ExLolaKutty, @mojorojo, @VarunmThakur and @thetanmay.
End of a goddamn era. :')

There was a time when music on TV for me, meant only MTV and Channel V. Haven't watched either in ages. But still a little sad to hear that V is shutting shop. Goodbye Channel V. Thank you for the memories. https://t.co/wfXeAjdAWi

Remember VJ Nonie (when Channel [V] was still MTV)? She was a bigger star than many musicians. https://t.co/E4jZxeC9Vi

I must say it was heading there . coz MTV came up with innovative ideas like roadies and splitsvilla and channel V had creative ideas but some where they lost the track. PS : i enjoyed lola kutty shows though specially GK 🙂
