Sports Biopics Are The New Rage In Indian Film Industry

Sports based films are the new rage in the Film Industry in India. Last year we have witnessed two big films M.S Dhoni – The Untold Story and Dangal hit the silver screens and broken several records. The coming years too, there are a number of sports-based films about to release and this simply means that Sports Biopics are a new rage. Sachin – A billion dreams This is the biggest ever sports-based film, which is all set to release on April 14, 2017. The film is based on legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, who will make his acting debut with this project which also stars his son Arjun Tendulkar. The film will talk about the life journey of Sachin's life and career. Directed by James Erskine and produced by Ravi Bhagchandka. 2. Mariyappan This south film is highly motivational as it is based on the story of Mariyappan Thangavelu, who is a Paralympic high jumper. He won the Gold Medal in the T-42 category at the summer Paralympic games of 2016 held in Rio de Janeiro. The film is being held by Aishwarya Rajnikanth Dhanush and the first look of the film was released by none other than SRK. Gold This is one of the ambitious projects which is all set to release on Independence Day, 2018. The film revolves around hockey player Balbir Singh. Under his captaincy, India won three Hockey Gold medals in Olympics. Though his story is a kind of forgotten one! 4. Biopic on Murlikant Petkar He is an inspirational to millions of people across India, as he set a world record in the 50m freestyle swimming and won the Gold Medal in 1970 at the Commonwealth games. Biopic on Gopichand Last year PV Sindhu won the medal for India in Tennis and made us proud. PV Sindhu was trained by none other than coach Gopichand. He has his own academy where he teaches coaching to a number of youngsters. Reportedly, his role will be essayed by Telugu actor Babu. 6. Biopic on Dhyan Chand – Hockey Player Reportedly, the biopic on Dhyan Chand was being produced by Karan Johar. The film might start SRK or Ranbir Kapoor essaying the lead role. There were also reports that Varun will be called on the board to essay the role of the legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand.
