Exclusive: “Gender of the director is not the issue, COMPETENCE is” said Sonu Sood
After Kangana Ranaut accused Sonu Sood for being gender bias, we got in touch with Sonu Sood and asked him what his take on Kangana’s accusation. Actor said that if gender bias would have been issue then he would have not worked under Farah khan’s direction in Happy New Year. He labeled Kangana as ‘Incompetent’ and that was the actual reason for his exit from Manikarnika.
“Kangana is a dear friend and she will always remain one but this constant playing the woman card , the victim card and making this entire issue about male chauvinism is ridiculous. The gender of the director is not the issue . Competence is. Let’s not confuse the two . I’ve worked with Farah Khan who’s a competent woman director and Farah and I had a great professional equation and we are still best of friends . That’s all i would like to say,” Sonu told Filmymantra.
As of for now Kangana announced that she will recast the role with another actor. She said, “None of the portions he has shot before will be used because he has spiked hair with gel in his hair (for Simmba). So the new team of DOP and editors and our writers of Manikarnika have discarded those scenes so I have to shoot all of that anyway so it’s easy to get another actor on board. Who keeps spiked hair for a period film?”
