Sonu Nigam exposes Bollywood; says music industry is controlled by two ‘mafias’

India’s one of the finest singers, Sonu Nigam has revealed the harsh reality of the Indian film industry where he explains how there are ‘mafias’ who control the career of newcomers.

In a video message released over the tragic suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who committed suicide, Sonu said that soon people will hear such cases from the music industry too. It was not enough of him as Sonu even, without taking the name, accused Salman Khan of using his power to destroy the career of a singer.

Below is the text from Sonu Nigam’s long message:

“Sushant Singh Rajput died, an actor died. Tomorrow, you can hear the same about a singer, or a composer, or a lyrics writer. Because the music scenario in our country… there are bigger ‘mafias’ here that in the film industry, unfortunately. The power rests in the hands of two of them… just two from the music industry. They own companies. They have the power to make someone sing or not sing.

Everybody wants to ‘rule’ the business. Don’t do this! This is not right. You will be questioned. Be a little kind please, to the newcomers.

It’s very difficult for the new kids, very difficult… I speak to every one of them. They are troubled that the producer wants to work with them, the director wants to work, even the music composer wants to work with them but the music company will say: ‘This is not our artiste.

I was lucky that I joined (the industry) at a young age, I escaped the clutches. I got out of it. I don’t have any wish to sing for the last 15 years. It’s ok. I am happy in my own world. But I have seen the frustration in the eyes, in the voice, in the words of new singers, new composers, new lyrics writers… tears of blood, sometimes.

This can happen to me – that I have sung a song and an actor, the same actor who is being accused of wrong doing, says that don’t make this guy sing. He has done this with Arijit Singh. What is this? How can you use your power like that?”

It is to be mentioned that Arijit Singh has had a face-off with Salman Khan in the past. Salman had reportedly dropped a song recorded by Arijit Singh from his film Sultan after he was offended by the singer’s mannerisms at an award show.

Sonu’s reaction comes at a time when it is alleged that Sushant Singh Rajput was in depression as industry biggies boycotted him from films. Fingers have been raised on names like Salman Khan, Karan Johar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and few others.

Sushant committed suicide on June 14 by hanging from a ceiling at his Bandra residence. His alleged girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty was interrogated by Mumbai Police for 9 long hours on Thursday at the Bandra Police Station.
