Shah Rukh Khan Pays Tribute To His Debut Director Col. Raj Kapoor, Says You Made “A Fauji Out Of A Boy”

Colonel Raj Kapoor, the man who gave Bollywood the biggest superstar of all time Shah Rukh Khan with popular TV Series Fauji, has passed away at 87 in a hospital here. Colonel Raj Kapoor fought three wars and also acted in many films.

After becoming a follower of Osho, Colonel Raj Kapoor retired from Indian Army and moved to Mumbai to work in Indian film and television industry. He worked in many films and ad commercials as an actor. He also went on to produce many television series. A few years back, he launched a novel titled “When Shiva Smiles”. Amidst all this, Raj Kapoor also gave Bollywood everyone’s favorite King Khan.

Confirming the news, Raj Kapoor’s daughter Ritambhara said to IANS, “My father passed away on Wednesday night due to age-related issue.”

One of the three daughters, Ritambhara also added, “My father died at 10.10 p.m. yesterday. He was in a hospital for some time, but his death was very sudden. He was otherwise in good health. He went away quite peacefully.”

Shah Rukh Khan took to Twitter to pay tribute to one director who launched him to the showbiz business. He tweeted,

“He loved me so much. Encouraged me. And today if I am used to being mollycoddled on sets it’s because of this man who made a ‘Fauji’ out of a boy, like his own. Will miss you Sir…always. May u find peace in ur new mission.”

Colonel Raj Kapoor’s family announced the news by sharing a post on Facebook.
