Ranbir Kapoor’s last release ‘Sanju’ has been performing very well at the box office. The film has entered 200 crore club and is inching towards earning 300 crores. He also won the Best Actor Male in the Filmfare Awards for the movie. His performance has been appreciated a lot for the film.
The movie is based on the dramatic life of Bollywood’s beloved Sanjay Dutt, he also got some revenue out of the profits made by the film. The movie moves on to show his struggles in life, the loss of his parents, the TADA and arms possession case, his time in jail and much more.
The film showed Sanju as a normal human being who made his choices, right and wrong, and they have successfully managed to put forward the point with an excellent cast. While the film was appreciated by many, there was a section who believed that it had been made just to whitewash the image of Sanjay.
Sanjay Dutt responded to these charges as he says that he is happy, humble and proud that the movie has been made on his life. According to him, he has lived a crazy life and everyone knows that he has overcome a number of problems which also makes it a good story for a film. He thinks Raju Hirani was the right person to direct it. It’s a sensitive issue.”
Sanjay was quizzed about the film being accused of whitewashing his image, and Sanjay said, “I’m aware that a lot of people said it was an exercise in whitewashing. Frankly, It doesn’t matter. No one spends over Rs 50 to 60 Crore to whitewash anyone’s image. My ‘whitewashing’ happening when the Supreme Court gave me a clean chit saying aying I am not a terrorist,” adding, “Also, if the film didn’t have an element of truth, it wouldn’t have gone on to do a business of Rs 334.57 crore Surely, something in it struck a chord with the audience.”
Sanjay Dutt will next seen in Abhishek Varman’s “Kalank” which also stars Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Sonakshi Sinha.
