Shah Rukh Khan and Rajesh Khanna both played dying men in the film, and both loved to spread happiness in other’s lives (to the point of being too intrusive). However, every character in Anand knew that Rajesh Khanna’s character was dying, while in KHNH only Aman’s closest family members knew about his condition before it was revealed to others accidentally later. Moreover, KHNH is more of a love story, where a dying man decided to lend out the love of his life to her best friend so that they can happily live ever after. Anand meanwhile was more of a slice of life story, than focussed more on the friendship between Anand and his cynical doctor.
