Annu Kapoor’s journey from humble beginnings to Bollywood fame inspires many. Initially dreaming of becoming an IAS officer, Kapoor took unexpected turns to support his family, selling tea and lottery tickets. Today, he’s celebrated as one of the industry’s most versatile actors.

Known for his diverse talents, Annu Kapoor has excelled as an actor, host, RJ, and comedian, shattering stereotypes of conventional “actor looks.” Whether hosting the iconic *Antakshari* or bringing roles to life, Kapoor shows he can master any character.

His career, spanning over three decades, includes roles in memorable films like Aitraaz, where he starred alongside Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, and Kareena Kapoor Khan. Kapoor was born on February 20, 1956, and started in entertainment as a stage actor in 1979. His breakout role came in 1984 with Basu Chatterjee’s *Ek Ruka Hua Faisla*.

Kapoor’s film debut in 1983’s *Mandi*, directed by Shyam Benegal, set him on a spectacular career path. Since then, he’s become a prominent figure in Hindi films, TV serials, and game shows, impressing audiences with every appearance.

Growing up in a creative family played a crucial role in Kapoor’s artistic journey. His mother, a Bengali poet and classical singer, and his father, who owned a traveling Parsi theater company, created a foundation for his future in the arts.

However, Kapoor faced struggles on his path to success. Financial hardships forced him to leave his studies, and he started a tea stall, which failed, and sold lottery tickets to make ends meet. Despite these challenges, he found his calling in acting.

After joining the National School of Drama in Delhi, Kapoor’s talent shone through. He impressed audiences and mentors alike by portraying a 70-year-old character at just 23, capturing the attention of Shyam Benegal, who later cast him in Mandi.

Kapoor went on to star in hit films like Dream Girl, Dream Girl 2, and Jolly LLB 2, working alongside Bollywood’s biggest stars. Whether playing quirky or powerful characters, Annu Kapoor has proved his versatility knows no bounds.
