Katrina Kaif Opened Up On Replacing Priyanka Chopra In Bharat
Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Bharat is making quite a buzz since the trailer has been released. The film ‘Bharat’ made it to the headlines before even the first poster was out. It seems that the film was offered to Priyanka Chopra, who was director Ali Abbas Zafar’s initial choice to play the leading lady. As Priyanka was getting married, she had to opt out of ‘Bharat’ and later, Katrina became the ‘perfect’ choice of her replacement.
Recently, Salman reveals that not Priyanka, Katrina of his brother-in-law and Bharat’s co-producer Atul Agnihotri for the film. But Priyanka called director Ali, saying she wanted to play the role and eventually got cast.
In an interview, when Katrina was asked about the same, she said, “Atul has always been very supportive and really wanted me to do the film. And in the end, that’s what happened. Yes, Salman and I share great chemistry, but when I walked onto this set, I was very clear that the script demanded a different kind of dynamics between us and I had to maintain it.”
She further added, “So, I would not have lunch or hang out with him. It’s different with an action film like Tiger (Ek Tha Tiger and Tiger Zinda Hai) where you can chat and chill. But here, I wanted Bharat and Kumud to appear like two people meeting for the first time and forging a connection. I hope you see that in the film.”
Katrina said that although she wasn’t the first choice for the Bharat but she is happy to have bagged the film. When I read the character of Kumud, i felt there’s so much I can do in it and I wanted to immerse myself completely into it. I just hope that I keep getting to play such exciting characters which have enough meat in them.”
Katrina has been garnering praises for her performance. Netizens have hailed the actress and called her performance promising in the three-minute trailer of the film.
