Actress Kangana Ranaut Charges Rs 24 Crore To Play Lead In Jayalalithaa Biopic
Kangana Ranaut is on her way to become the highest paid female actor of India. After the film Manikarnika, she is now looking south of the Vindhyas. She will be playing former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa in an upcoming film based on the Tamil actor-politician’s life.
The actress is being paid to the tune of Rs 24 crore for the bilingual project, which will be in Hindi and Tamil. The Hindi version will be known as “Jaya’ while in Tamil the movie will be titled as ‘Thalaivi”.
The makers seem certain that her star power will help the movie reach a pan Indian audience, and the producer have already signed a contract with her.”
It is for the first time that a Hindi actress has been roped in to play the lead role in a south Indian film. Kangana ‘s fee is still lesser than the top male actors in Bollywood.
The film is being directed by Vijay and written by K.V. Vijayendra Prasad. Kangana is currently working on Mental Hai Kya and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s Panga post which she will commence shooting for the Jayalalithaa biopic.
