Jolly LLB 2 Movie Review : A slow paced ride with twists and turns

Jolly LLB 2 Movie Review

Jolly LLB 2 Review :

Akshay Kumar who has played cop and criminal roles many times has for the first time got in the shoes of a lawyer. We do have stereotypes regarding lawyers of being dishonest and cunning. Yes the protagonist indeed comes in the same category until a twist in the tale take place. So as objections were raised accusing the makers of the film to have presented lawyers and Indian judiciary system in bad light, there is curiosity to see to what extent the profession has been maligned or upheld.

In this sequel to 2013 released Jolly LLB, Akshay Kumar plays Jagdishwar Mishra who is typical lawyer with a propensity to present lies clad as truth. He does petty immoral acts such as issuing certificates for money. But when he is trapped in a bigger legal dilemma, the real human in him rises to bring truth to light. But that would not happen so easily so we have a plot which has so many twists that it will keep you guessing till the end.

Jagdishwar Mishra, the struggling lawyer, is fighting a high profile murder case and is himself delving deep into the matter when the case assumes great importance and gets major media cover up. He finds himself fighting a case that no other lawyer dares to take. Huma Qureshi plays Jagdishwar’s wife and Annu Kapoor is an accomplished lawyer fighting from the opposite side. Which initially begins as a fight to prove their supremacy as lawyers, later becomes a war between truth and lie.

Jolly LLB 2 Cast Review :

Saurabh Shukla plays the judge who is sometimes moody and sometimes listless. Returning in a pivotal role after a break, the seasoned actor nails the performance. Huma is delighting with her beautiful screen presence and Annu Kapoor is refreshing and comic yet impactful with his skilled acting. But the actor who steals the show is Akshay Kumar with his flawless acting. The actor gets into the skin of the character and gives the audience the commoner and the hero all in one character.

Director Subhash Kapoor has dealt with the story with bits of imperfections here and there. Although there are not many weak moments in the film, one finds the script very slow paced. In a thriller like this too many twists can actually mar the interest of the audience making the story look too much crafted.

Music by Meet Brothers, Manj Musik and Chirantan Bhatt are worth appreciation. “Go Pagal”  and “O Re Rangreza” are nice foot tapping numbers while “Jolly Good Fellow” is creepy. Thankfully the songs have been aptly placed and do not interfere with the pace of the story.

Jolly LLB 2 Review : Final Words

As the censor board gave a clean chit to the film, we do know that the movie is out of legal trouble but yes the uncalled for controversy did contribute to it’s publicity. It is surely not a disappointing one and one might say it is a step ahead from the prequel. Jolly LLB 2 will be jolly ride in theatres this week.
