#FilmymantraQA – Is Drishyam Hit or Average at the Box Office? [@villagerthe1]
Drishyam is now Above Average at the Box Office. The film has already netted over 72 crore and would most certainly cross the 77 crore mark. Since neither All Is Well nor Manjhi-The Mountain Man are collecting great moolah, the stage is set for the Ajay Devgn starrer to continue finding audience in theaters. Chances are that the film may just about sneak past the 80 crore milestone too in a couple of weeks.
The film has been made at a cost of 52 crore with further 15 crore spent on P&A, hence resulting in the Overall Cost of 67 crore. Out of this, 45 crore have already come in through rights like Satellite, Music, Overseas and Internet, amongst others. As a result, only 22 crore further were waiting to be recovered from India theatrical. Even if one takes 75 crore as the eventual total for this Nishikant Kamat directed film, over 40 crore share is coming in, hence resulting in decent profits.
Yes, the film hasn’t set the Box Office ablaze by turning into an overnight 100 crore affair. Still, it has managed to gain some very good respect for the subject and its lead actor (Ajay Devgn) that adds on to the credibility factor. Moreover, with good moolah coming in commercially too, Drishyam has turned out to be another good success of the season.
