Priyanka will sizzle in Baywatch while Deepika is all set to make her big debut with XxX: The Return Of Xander Cage! One is a former beauty queen while the other started her high-flying career in the Showbiz through modelling. Both are successful and equally loved by audiences. Both have grown from strength to strength with every passing year and here they are, ready to make their debut in Hollywood. One may draw many parallels between Deepika and Priyanka as both have reached a similar height in their career. Yet, their journeys are distinctly different and will take them to different destinations. Here’s why. Advantage Deepika This dusky beauty with willowy body frame and doe-shaped eyes entered into the modelling world in her teenage years and rose to great heights within no time. She was the Kingfisher gal before she made it big in Bollywood. She got a leverage right in the beginning of her career. Debuting with Shah Rukh Khan himself is no joke. She was loved instantly by the audience for her beauty and poise. Deepika, even when she was a newcomer, always had a polished air about her. And naturally so. She is the badminton legend Prakash Padukone’s daughter. Her smooth stance worked in her favour and got her where she is now. Though she has had her string of flops, (Desi Boys, Lafangey Parindey, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, Break Ke Baad, among others) she has had it comparatively easy. Yes, she did battle a bad break up and depression but rose above the problems. Another factor which seemed to work in Dippy’s favour was her insistence on being a simple girl from an educated, cultured family. She manages to convince you that she is one of you, yet she has a detached and regal aura around her. Now, that’s what we call grace and poise. This very quality covers up her slightly mediocre acting skills. We love her. We can’t get over her and that’s why she continue to enthral the world audience for a long, long, long time. Advantage Priyanka This former beauty queen came from a strictly common household from Bareilly (yeah she has been educated in the US no doubt) and is now conquering the Hollywood like a boss! Her journey is both inspiring and has a higher aspirational value. This hottie had to really rough it out in Bollywood, her high profile affair (you know who are talking about!) notwithstanding! She was an outsider when she entered but still managed to make a mark in India and overseas. She did some dismal movies like Andaaz and Barsaat among many others but is now shining bright thanks to her dedication and hard work. Yeah, when compared with Deepika (who started her career much later after PC) she is still a bit rough around the edges and lacks pedigree. But, she is a total rockstar when it comes to acting. It is freaking amazing the way she has grown as an artist. Pick out her any film in the recent times, her every role will stand out. You will not forget her Kashibai, Mary Kom, Meghana Mathur (Fashion) or Jhilmil (Barfi!) that easily. She is a powerhouse of talent. And talent is what has taken her ahead. This woman has done it all: singing, television and now Baywatch! Also, mark the way she has groomed herself. That cultivated husk in her voice, her cool-ass attitude and her opinions which are tailor made to match the ‘global sensibilities’. She is here to stay. For sure. Deepika Vs Priyanka? Well, it is definitely not fair to compare Deepika and Priyanka coz both of them are successful in their own right but I just feel that maybe Deepika may trump Priyanka in a longer run just coz she is smooth and smart when it comes to business.
