Box Office Collection: Tanhaji gets flying start; Chhapaak disappoints
Mumbai: The Ajay Devgan and Kajol starrer film Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior completely overshadowed Deepika Padukone’s ‘Chhapaak’ at the Bollywood box office. The opening collection of both the films have difference in huge margins.
The biographical period drama based on the life of Tanaji Malusare – Tanhaji minted a whopping 61.75 crore and the audiences from Maharastra goes the major credit for this. Chhapaak, which was based on acid attack survivor Lakshmi Agarwal, only managed to collect Rs 19.2 crore on weekend.

One reason considered for the low collections of the Meghna Gulzar directorial film Chhapaak was the JNU controversy linked to it. While there were certain reports doing the rounds that tickets amounting to several lakhs were cancelled.

Meanwhile, Tanhaji received a tremendous response from the audience and the film has received positive reviews from the critics as well.
