Here Are The Bollywood Movies That Were Pitted Against Each Other

With less of Fridays and more number of films, Box Office clashes between films is inevitable. Everyone is scrambling for that space and positioning that will promise maximum gains. And as of now, Bollywood lovers are about to witness another clash of films at the box office. The films, Mohenjo Daro and Rustom are all set to release on the same day, 12th of August. Both the films are massive and star Hrithik Roshan and Akshay Kumar respectively, who are superstars and have a huge fan following. Well, for now both the movies look promising but their fate will be decided once they are released. When two films clash at the box office, it isn't necessary that one film will always fail. Sometimes both the movies gather great box office collections, sometimes both fail and sometimes one becomes a blockbuster at the cost of the other. And this is not the first time that movies have been pitted against each other. There are films in the past that have released on the same date and some that will release on the same date in the days to come. Let us look at some of these movies : 1. Lagaan Vs Gadar : Ek Prem Katha In 2001, Ashutosh Gowariker's Lagaan was released on the same day with Gadar : Ek Prem Katha directed by Anil Sharma. Both the films had the element of patriotism in it and were exceptionally good in their own ways. Aamir Khan's Lagaan was critically acclaimed and Sunny Deol's Gadar was such a good piece of art that it became the highest grossing movie ever. Well, that shows both the movies were blockbusters! 2. Dil Vs Ghayal With films Dil and Ghayal releasing on the same day, it was another Aamir Khan Vs Sunny Deol clash at the box office. The movies were released on June 22nd, 1990. Well, both the movies were loved by the audience and both became super-hit. Aamir Khan-Sunny Deol clash worked wonders, isn't it?! ;) 3. Aitraaz Vs Veer Zaara Shah Rukh Khan's Veer Zaara and Akshay Kumar's Aitraaz were also released on the same date. Both the movies were exceptionally hit because of their unique content. 4. Son Of Sardaar Vs Jab Tak Hai Jaan Both the movies were liked by the audience and received mixed responses. But Shah Rukh Khan's Jab Tak Hai Jaan garnered greater box office collections. 5. Om Shanti Om Vs Saawariya Om Shanti Om directed by Farah Khan released on the same day with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya. Om Shanti Om was the debut movie of Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor made their debut in Bollywood through Saawariya. In terms of box office collections, Om Shanti Om performed well and Saawariya failed to gather appreciation from the audience. 6. Golmaal 3 Vs Action Replayy Both the films, Action Replayy and Golmaal 3 were of comedy genre. But Golmaal 3 featuring Ajay Devgan was appreciated more than Action Replayy starring Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. 7. Jaanemann Vs Don Shah Rukh Khan's Don became a hit and Jaanemann, featuring Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar failed to perform well at the box office. 8. Dilwale Vs Bajirao Mastani In the clash of Shah Rukh Khan's Dilwale and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani, SLB came out victorious. Bajirao Mastani became a blockbuster hit and won many awards. 9. Raees Vs Sultan Well, there was a lot of buzz on Shah Rukh Khan's Raees and Salman Khan's Sultan releasing on the same day in 2016. But ultimately, the release of Raees was postponed and Sultan gathered great box office collections. 10. Raees Vs Kaabil After shifting the release date from Eid, King Khan decided to release the film on the same day as Kaabil is releasing, on January 26, 2017. Well, it is now reported that SRK is again planning to shift the release date of his film as he is in no mood to face a big clash of gigantic films. Guess what, after his last two films failed to impress the audience, SRK does not want to take any risk with Raees. 11. Dear Zindagi Vs Kahaani 2 SRK's 2016 film, where he is playing a pivotal role in Gauri Shinde’s Dear Zindagi will clash with Vidya Balan’s Kahaani 2. Kahaani was a superb film and Gauri Shinde is known to make unique kind of movies. So, it would be interesting to see who will win the box office race on November 25.
