Bollywood movies that has One Side Love!

With the trailers of ‘Aey Dil Hai Mushkil’ going on air, one-sided love stories have again picked up speed. Many beautiful movies have been made on this subject but not all have impressed us. Having said that, let’s revisit some Bollywood movies that were based on one-sided love. One of the most successful and legendary movies by Yash Chopra, ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ featured the superstar trio Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Karishma Kapoor. While Karishma is shown head over heels in love with SRK, the latter is crazy for Madhuri. A second love story in this movie is of Akshay and Madhuri where the former is in love with Madhuri but she believes in destiny and love. Love, jealousy, friendship and compromise have woven together result in this unforgettable romantic drama. Who can forget the love-smitten Dhanush who is oblivious to everyone and everything except Sonam Kapoor in the movie ‘Raanjhana’. Beautifully executed but loosely scripted, ‘Raanjhana’ did not impress us much for it portrayed Dhanush more as a stalker and less as a lover. The thin line between love and stalking was not handled well and the movie bombed at the box office. Another Bollywood movie that just couldn’t do justice to the lavish sets and captivating music is ‘Saawariya’. Marking the debut of two Kapoor scions, Ranbir and Sonam, this Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie saw Ranbir falling for Sonam while the latter keeps waiting for her love Salman. Failing miserably, ‘Saawariya’ is one of those one-sided love stories that we prefer to ignore. A strange love triangle that ‘Cocktail’ was, it cannot be categorized as purely one-sided love story as in the first half, Deepika and Saif are shown to be dating and eventually, Saif’s heart starts beating for Diana Penty leaving Deepika heart broken. To summarize, A loves B but then B falls for A’s friend and leaves A doomed. This political drama had Katrina wanting to be by Ranbir’s side while Ranbir marries his firangi girlfriend leaving Katrina heartbroken. One sided love, emotional pain, and drama unfold eventually leaving us glued to our seats. One of the most beautiful movies about friendship and how to handle it carefully, ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ gave us some important life lessons besides dealing with an unusual one-sided love story between Akshay Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, who is much older to him. The agony of being not understood by anyone in the conservative society leaves Akshay heart broken. A passionate romantic thriller, ‘Pyar Tune Kya Kiya’ featured Urmila and Fardeen in the lead roles where Urmila falls for Fardeen, who is already married and loves his wife to the core. This fierce one-sided love of Urmila coupled with the denial by Fardeen leads Urmila in the path of doom and she ends up in a mental hospital. A very successful movie that opens with Shilpa Shetty and Suniel Shetty in love with each other had some of the most beautiful songs ever. However, the plot unfolds with Shilpa being forced to marry Akshay Kumar and eventually falling in love with him, leaving Suniel angry and restless. He tried every possible trick to ruin Akshay and Shilpa’s marriage but ends up a failure. Finally, he gives up and leaves the married couple to lead a happy life ahead. Based on the concept of an alien trying to survive in this hard and mean world, ‘PK’ went on to become a blockbuster in no time. What else did you expect from an Aamir Khan film anyways! While it mocked at certain religions, the movie also threw light on a one-sided love of an alien who falls for a human being without his feelings being reciprocated. However, he has no complaints and does not let Anushka realize until the end that he loves her. Beautifully executed with moments of intense comedy, suspense, heartache and romance, this movie is a class apart. Another of Shahrukh specials, this movie showcased Kajol falling for SRK during their college days but SRK doesn’t realize it and marries Rani whose beauty impresses him. Fate surrenders in front of their love and they ultimately meet later in life to live together for life.
