Aryan Khan : Bail Plea Rejected

It has been 2 weeks since Aryan Khan, the 23-year-old son of Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan, was arrested on October 3 on a Mumbai cruise during a drugs bust. On October 2, hours after Narcotics Control Bureau officials in disguise raided the Mumbai cruise liner, Cordelia. Arbaaz Merchant, a friend of his, was among the seven people arrested. Aryan is currently being held in Mumbai’s Arthur Road jail; he has been imprisoned since October 8 and was previously held by the NCB.

During the most recent hearing, on October 19, NCB’s Additional Solicitor General, Anil Singh, argued that action was needed to combat drug usage among teenagers. He further stated that under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the notion of innocent till proven guilty does not apply. Aryan’s senior lawyer, Amit Desai, claimed the NCB had given no evidence that giving him bail would jeopardize the case, including any communications or chats about alleged drug use at the cruise party searched. Special Judge V V Patil reserved his decision after hearing the arguments and had scheduled the decision for today.
Today, Aryan’s case hearing was numbered 22 and the verdict of the case was given at 14:45. The court has once again rejected Aryan Khan’s bail plea along with Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha. The special Mumbai court will soon pronounce its detailed order on the rejection of Aryan Khan’s bail plea. The lawyers of the accused will move to the High Court as Mumbai Sessions Court has rejected their bail plea.
